Admissions Policies

Eligibility

​

SSNS does not discriminate based on age, ancestry/national origin, color, ability, gender identity/expression, marital status, race, religion, sex, or sexual orientation in matters affecting admissions, membership, or in the employment of faculty and staff.

​

Since SSNS is a parent–run co-operative, we require all interested parents to tour our school at our annual Open House, held in late January or early February, or by appointment before applying.

​

SSNS aligns its age requirements with MCPS.  To enter each class, students must be the following ages. 

SSNS 2s Class: age 2 by Sept 1st
SSNS 3s Class: age 3 by Sept 1st
SSNS 4s Class: age 4 by Sept 1st

Selection Process

 

Current SSNS families, children and grandchildren of current staff, alumni families, applicants who have been on the waiting list since the previous Open House enrollment lottery,  Toddler Time Families and members of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Silver Spring (UUCSS) for at least six months receive priority registration during the priority enrollment period of January 12th-February 9th.

After admitting families who meet the criteria for Priority Admission, in the Order of Preference, SSNS will select applicants by lottery. If we have more applications than space available for a given classroom, families will be placed in a general waiting pool, which we then draw from to fill spaces as they become available.

​

Upon notice of acceptance, a signed enrollment agreement and non-refundable one-month’s tuition deposit is required to hold your child’s place at SSNS. This deposit will be applied toward June tuition.

​

Enrollment Period

​

While it is preferred that all families be fully enrolled by August in order to begin the school year with their cohort in September, SSNS will accept applications through November 1st for the current school year.

​

SSNS's priority enrollment period for the 2025-26 school year is January 12th -February 9th.  Click here to receive more information and be invited to our January virtual information sessions and our Open House Tour and Play day on February 1st.

Applications for the 2025-26 school year will be accepted starting January 12th.​

​

 Applicants must attend either a virtual information session, attend our Open House/Tour and Play, or receive an in person tour. A non-refundable $75 application fee is due upon application.

Monthly Tuition: $450*

Time: Mon-Thurs 9:30–1:00

Max Students: 16

Monthly Tuition: $575*

Program: Toddler Time ~18–26 months

Instructor: Kate McCaffrey

Max Students: 8

Tuition: $100 / 5-week sessions

            $80 / 4-week sessions

*Tuition payments are for 10 months of the year, September through June. Payments are divided up into 10 equal payments over the school year, due on the first of each month; there is a late fee of 10% after the 10th of the month. Any additional classes offered—such as Friday Theme Class and Summer School Classes—have additional costs.
